Code Enforcement and Better Community Relations Considered

Most folks do not like the code enforcement officers in their community one bit, yet without them surely chaos might ensue on a small level. Most all business owners hate them due to the compliance, which is mandatory when they come around.

What can a municipal code enforcement department do to help improve its reputation in the community? Why not work with the citizens and business community in a neighborhood mobile watch program to help take a bite out of crime? Consider if you will the following;

CODE ENFORCEMENT: Code enforcement personnel are usually called out by complaints. The observed complaint may turn out to be more serious than the original complaint. Enforcement personnel are good because they will not report non-crimes. Each city may have two, three, or a whole staff of code enforcement personnel, which will help you increase the number of vehicles in the neighborhood mobile watch patrol.

Now can you see why it makes so much sense for the code enforcement to join in helping become the eyes and ears of the community policing program by joining the mobile neighborhood watch efforts? Surely it makes sense and it will help them earn respect and the hearts of all citizens in the town. So, consider all this in 2006.
